Baltimore, MD (July 9, 2009) Important changes are coming to Baltimore City’s waste collection service. These changes go into effect beginning Monday, July 13th. On that day, there will be no trash collection. On the following day, July 14th, new routing and scheduling changes will mean NEW collection days for most households in Baltimore.
One PLUS ONE –means that you will still have 2 collection days – but one will be for trash and one will be for recyclables only. You will receive a postcard with your new trash and new recycling days spelled out. Please keep it and put it on your refrigerator as a reminder.
After July 13th , you can set your cans out as early as 6 p.m. the night before but no later than 6 a.m. the day of collection. You will set out your recycling at the same place you set out your trash.
Remember, you can use any container you want for recycling – even cardboard boxes and paper bags - just mark it “RECYCLE”. Put out as much recycling, as you want! We will take it all. More than half of household waste is recyclable, and now half of your service will be focused on recycling – it is a critical part of our effort to make Baltimore a cleaner, greener, more sustainable city.
For the complete list of what you can and cannot recycle, go to the Department of Public Works homepage at www.baltimorecity.gov/goverment/dpw/
Remember - To find out what your new days of service are, call 311 or visit The Department of Public Works OR www.cleanergreenerbaltimore.org
